SUGGESTIONS

The 121 vulnerable people we assisted need to be helped in all ways. I propose to teach them life skills such as: carpentry, soap making, etc. for them to be restored. Be sure that you will receive good things in His Kingdom.

Yours in his service,

Pastor JOHN, Goma, Project Manager

In Rutshuru, people were assisted and listened to. I see it will be good for us to have a small office there as a counseling house. We need a small group of counselors at Rutshuru; a ‘listening house’ and set up permanent activities to care for vulnerable people in this area. The house here is under an NGO called L2R. In this house, we have two rooms: the one for reception and another for counseling and for healing trauma.

Individual Counseling / Listening House & Rutshuru Office

Listening individually to the trauma victim was the best way in our ministry. It’s good to exchange experiences of bad and good situations in the life. We share and look together for solutions and pray for each other. Counseling and listening is the best way counselors can get to the heart of someone: to know his needs. Two women were victims of rape. Because of this their husbands left them.

Trauma Healing Ministry, Focus Group & Discussions.

Trauma is a big problem at Binza and Kiseguru villages. Many of people are traumatized because of the events they experienced in war. We organized activities to help victims of trauma and give emotional support. Here victims of trauma discussed problems and looked for solutions. Participants spoke one-by- one about their situations they experienced: how is happened and how they are looking for solutions. AMESA (medical clinic) gave us medicines to treat weak people. We treated all traumatic people with this medicine in the focus group.

That’s why we received an invitation from Kiseguru Baptist Church to assist these people and preach the Gospel of Christ. I preached about Salvation and what God did for us through Jesus, our Savior. I began a seminar Wednesday and finished Monday for Christian believers. It was wonderful; I prayed for sick people. More than 47 women, men, girls and boys, made decisions to follow Jesus as their own savior. Since that day, they serve God.

Dear Mama and Bush Mission,

This report contains activities in August at Rutshuru: Kiseguru Village, Binza Village and Kiwanja City where we conducted Trauma Healing Ministry and Evangelism. I was accompanied by partners L2R Caregivers and Psychologist Jean Viseke, manager of Trauma Healing Center. We were facilitated by Kiseguru Baptist Church.

1. We organized focus groups with children, youth and women.

2. We assisted more than 121 people suffering trauma wounds, somatic and

emotional chaos. We listened to each one individually.

3. More than 47 people took decisions to follow Jesus Christ as the own

    savior.

4. We established at Kiwanja City an office as a listening/counseling center

to help more people in this area. 5. Rutshuru is the headquarters of an

    NGO called M23.

6. More people were touched by trauma events.

7. This office allows us to be present in the area and help more people

    touched by trauma events.

8. Below you will read what happened; how money was spent; and

suggestions for progress of this Ministry.

 I. REPORT KISEGURU

suburb is 20 Km from KIWANJA and 97 Km from GOMA…. This area was

attacked by three rebel groups: FDLR, Mai Mai, and M-23. Because of this, many

people were victim of war in this area. They have been traumatized physically,

emotionally, with sleep problems and chronic illnesses.
